Compassion, Care, and Consciousness: Africological Causes and Affect
This year's theme, Compassion, Care, and Consciousness: Africological Causes and Affects, addresses the ongoing, worldwide social, political, and spiritual unrest that Pan-African scholars and practitioners are encountering across political, economic, health, and educational fronts. We recognize the "state of emergency" many of us find ourselves in with the rise in fascism, warfare, and attacks on social justice on the continent and throughout the Diaspora. We also know, tied to Sankofa, that we must look back to age-old traditions in order to forge a new path ahead with compassion, care, and consciousness. While seeking to extend the objectives of our current scholarship and practice, it is our hope that this year's conference will reimagine and explore ways in which African ethics of connection and harmony can shape the very form and understanding of our current age.Conference will take place during business hours on October 18-19, 2024, at
the Center for Anti-Racism, Mazur Hall 140, 1114 Polett Walk, Temple University, Philadelphia PA 19122.
